Great video! Don't hate me, but I'm not cooking anything for Thanksgiving. Since our only child went away to college too far away to come home on Thanksgiving, we have gone out to a yummy buffet at an old inn on Lake Michigan for Thanksgiving. I will be making your pumpkin bread recipe for a bake sale the weekend before Thanksgiving. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteI am cooking the entire dinner from the turkey all the way to the pies! I'll start on Monday and cook like crazy for four days!
ReplyDeleteWe'll have turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Pretty simple.

I will be joining other family for this year and do not have to make the whole meal. I will most likely make cranberry salad and pie of some sort.
ReplyDeleteJamie, That was so cute !!!! Your girls are so fun, I miss seeing them in activity days. This year we will be going to the in-laws for Thanksgiving, so I will not have to bake much. I will however be trying Julie's wonderful pumpkin pie recipe. One thing that I will miss with be my Mother's pineapple yams, it is the most delicious yam recipe EVER !!
ReplyDeletei was in tears!!!! jace thought it was awesome. funny eskelson girls!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the video Jamie!! What a fun Mom you are. I learn so much from you--and not just the cooking part! My thanksgiving "cooking" is pretty simple this year. I just have the jello salad and veggie tray and pies of course (can't have too many of those). See you all on Saturday--we wouldn't miss it.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the video. You look like you guys have a lot of fun in your family. My Thanksgiving cooking is the whole shebang. I'm cooking it all for my bunch of 8 plus my dad. We're having turkey with all the trimmings, pies, cookies, and shrimp dip to boot. Can hardly wait!
ReplyDeleteLove the video. You are all beautiful. And brave. haha. I'm cooking the whole meal but no company this year. Just my husband and myself, but I still have to make the traditional meal. Love the leftovers. Going to try your Blueberry Sour Cream Pie this year too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun video! My kids and I loved it- totally awesome talented family you have! We will be going to grandma's so we bring mashed potatoes and pie. We have been trying the snicker doodle bundt cake recipe and might be bringing that for something a little different.
ReplyDeleteI will not have to cook the whole meal but I will be making apple dumplins, pecan pie, sweet potatoes and probably a few other things! Can't wait though!
ReplyDeleteI am making a bunch, but I'm especially excited for the Lion House honey butter and rolls I will be trying from your site!
ReplyDeleteLove the video! Cute girls too! I'm making the banana cream pies and the mashed potatoes. YUMMO! So excited, I might have to 'practice' my pies beforehand and taste test them too :)
ReplyDeleteGreat video! =)
ReplyDeleteSince there will only be 2 adults and 1 picky toddler for my Thanksgiving this year, I will be doing a chicken pot pie instead of a turkey, and a few Thanksgiving sides.
What a cute video!!! We have a tradition of making ginger bread houses with out family. This year we will be making pop tart Christmas houses. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteCute! Well, amongst all the normal Thanksgiving eats, one side I am making are brussel sprouts...with bacon and onion. Because everything is good with bacon in it right?
ReplyDeleteLove that video! You do not have a man voice. It's rich and lovely, so much more attractive than the mousy, high pitched, whispery, "I'm such a sweet thing" voices that abound. I'm making turkey with all the traditional fixin's INCLUDING a new addition this year of your Yams with Sugared Pecans! I will be using sweet potatoes...what's the diff, BTW? Hooray for well-loved standbys and for newbies! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteOur little neighbor, Shelby, just finished her leukemia treatment! YAY! So, on Saturday, we are having a day of Thanks and Giving to raise money for children who are still in the fight!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to make that sour cream blueberry pie this year for Thanksgiving! YUM!
bastanger@msn.com
I am making Cheesy Veggies for Thanksgiving Day. Enough for like 30 people. I'm a little intimidated by it, because I don't normally cook in bulk.
ReplyDeleteTurkey, mashed potatoes, candied yams, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, watergate salad, rolls, pies, cranberry sauce and whatever else we may come up with, loved the video, too cute!
ReplyDeletemelissah@bhbaird.com
That's hilarious! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe will be having Thanksgiving with friends this year. I plan to make homemade sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce (I LOVE homemade)and probably your yummy French bread!
rachel.tricarico@gmail dot com
I'll be making the turkey with the stuffing and gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberries, sweet potato pie and other good stuff.
ReplyDeleteMCantu1019@aol.com
We just can't stop playing this video at my house!! Thanksgiving is truly a feast at my house--unfortunately it is an in-law year so we will see...Hopefully Turkey, potatoes without lumps, rolls (from the store!:( and we will just PRAY for some delicious pies. I plan on bringing chocolate almond bars and cream for at least my enjoyment!
ReplyDeleteWe've been invited to dinner at my Grandma's this year, so I don't have to bake as much as in the past. But I was informed that if I didn't come with my yummy yams, I wouldn't be allowed through the door. I'm not much for yams, but with a pound of butter and 2 cups of brown sugar, how could you go wrong?
ReplyDeleteBTW~ about 6 months ago, you helped me make my first ever loaves of bread. You told me about your awesome mixer that can take tons of volume, but I lost the email! What is your mixer again? Bosch maybe?
I am making a seitan (wheat meat) roast as we are vegetarian.

I go to multiple family members' homes for Thanksgiving, so I won't be making anything really. I may bring some Thanksgiving-inspired cookies :)
ReplyDeleteand I followed the link and answered their questions on the official webpage.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I have no idea what dishes I am making for Thanksgiving yet! I have a list of possible ideas and am just trying to decide the best ones. Here is my list:
ReplyDeleteartichoke dip
sweet potatoes in some form
sangria
green beans in some form
Luckily I am not hosting!
Am making all the Thanksgiving meal. But I would
ReplyDeletelove to have your mashed potatoes receipt.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Sue Hayes
Your video was really cute! I will, once again, be bringing your Holiday Crescent Rolls to the table. You have made me quite the celebrity with those things!:D
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny video. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm making a Thanksgiving feast with all the fixings, but I haven't decided which recipe for anything yet.
We'll have Turkey (brined) or Ham not sure yet. We sometimes opt for no turkey. The rest is super traditional
Stuffing, mashed potatoes, 2 pies, (possibly a sweet potato - really liked the one from last year) cranberry salad, probably 2 vegetables of some sort and rolls. Planning the menu is on my list of things to do this weekend.
Love the video! I too have a He-voice, so don't feel bad.
ReplyDeleteWe will be heading down to St. George to have Thanksgiving with my family and I will be making the desserts. I'll be making a pumpkin spice cake trifle, pumpkin pie, and Dixie Salad (the best fruit salad known to man, and it comes straight from Sunny St. George).
You are GREAT! I love looking at your blog everyday! I am in charge of the mashed potatoes this year...and every year..I am going to add the pecan yams this year though...they will be soo nummy!! thanks again! Shannon the6jones@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI am making your lion house rolls ( made them last year and my family demands them again this year!) with the honey butter and raspberry butter. Then I will also be making carmel brownies, those are MY Thanksgiving staple!! Then a pumpkin pie for the husband and my sons, their Thanksgiving staple.
ReplyDeleteAnn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your compliments about my He-Voice. Very thoughtful indeed.
As for your question.....sweet potatoes actually are white on the inside! Yams are orange, though are often called sweet potatoes. Just be sure when you are at the store that you get the ones that are orange. Good luck!
~Jamie
My Mom is making most of the meal but I will be bringing a side dish of mashed potatoes and rolls

ReplyDeleteI'm not making anything for Thanksgiving this year. My sister-in-law and her family are the only family close so we trade Christmas and Thanksgiving. This year she has Thanksgiving and I have Christmas. Last year, however, I made the whole shebang: turkey, dressing, honey ginger carrots, green beans with onion and bacon (no one here likes the classic casserole), crudites, black olives (okay so not much preparation with those two), mashed potatoes, rolls, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake w/gingersnap crust, and honey ginger whipped cream (yes, we like honey and ginger).
ReplyDeletekally3756@yahoo.com
We will be having the following:
ReplyDeleteTurkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, homemade rolls, pumpkin pie, apple pie, green slime (lime green jello salad), sweet potatoes.

ReplyDeleteOverall, we have a very traditional Thanksgiving dinner with one exception...for a first course, my mom always makes her Matzo ball soup....a favorite in our family!
ReplyDeleteOne dish that I know we'll be making this Thanksgiving is a Green Bean Fiesta Casserole. So delicious! ...and then, of course, I can't forget Pumpkin Pie either.
ReplyDeleteOur very UN-traditional family tradition is to always go to Disney World for Thanksgiving. (Have I mentioned that I LOVE my family and our ability to make whacky, but wonderful traditions!) :)

ReplyDeleteMy share of the Thanksgiving meal will be our family's recipe for green bean casserole & I will be making the mashed potatoes. We will have pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and cherry-pineapple cake.
ReplyDeleteInstead of turkey, our family is going to have prime rib roast this year.
ReplyDeleteJamie, I don't know how I missed this before but I LOVED it! My, what talent you have at your house! :) I am making rolls for 50 people for Thanksgiving and I need some advice. I have been making rolls in my Bosch forever and I always seem to add WAY too much flour to get the dough to "pull away from the side of the bowl". So, I took your advice and bought the industrial KitchenAid. Today is my first attempt at rolls in it and I seemed to have the same problem...so I'm thinking it's me and not the mixer. What kind of flour do you normally use? I use the cheap generic kind and I'm wondering if that's the problem?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't cook a whole lot. My mom or mother in law will do most of the cooking! I am better at the desserts :)
ReplyDeleteThis year I will be eating at my children's house, so I don't have to cook.

We have invited a friend to join us and whats good for me about the whole meal is the leftovers the next day, that means no cooking for at least one day, Yay for leftovers, Thanks for the great giveaway
